Working on Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign as a research & communications fellow was a life-changing experience. It was my introduction to the behind-the-scenes world of politics. The electric energy of working with so many brilliant and passionate people was crucial to my development as a writer, editor, and researcher. In addition to producing extensive opposition research pieces and daily news summaries for the Senator and senior staff, I wrote and edited op-eds for Bernie’s surrogates. To protect their privacy, names of surrogates have been removed and I’ve included only simple text versions of the op-eds.
